Ken’s Quarter-Life Krisis: Smell the Roses

kenroses

Do you ever get the sense that life is just passing you by? That blurring of the days, weeks, months; that “Wasn’t it January like 5 minutes ago?” Or, “What day is it today?”

I often find myself rushing for no apparent reason. Rushing to (and through) the grocery store, rushing through my dog’s morning walk, a dinner…for WHAT? And it isn’t until I’ve accidentally dropped my phone for the millionth time or made yet another wrong turn that I even realize I’m moving too quickly.  Read More…

kenoffice

If you follow curlBOX on IG, then you already know that I moved into my own office two weeks ago. And…that I’m very excited about it.

The overall theme is “Hunt or be Hunted” (as evidenced by one of Myleik’s favorite quotes framed behind the desk).  Read More…

KEN’S QUARTER-LIFE KRISIS: CUPCAKE WISHES

KENSBDAY

My 27th birthday was a whirlwind of friends, gifts, fellowship…and boxing!

Since I hold no qualms about sharing the (many, many) valleys along my journey, I figured I’d spread a little joy with the peaks too.  Read More…

KEN’S QUARTER-LIFE KRISIS: 27 YEARS!

golden-cupcake

27 Years.

I am 27 years old today. Or, as Myleik likes to put it, damn near 30!

While this is the first year I was not giddy with anticipation, I am more proud of myself and my accomplishments now than I have ever been. And I’ll take pride over giddiness any day. Read More…

BUBBLY

The Bubbly City.

curlBOX traveled to Chicago last week for a My Taught You/Huetiful Salon workshop. The seminar was a success, the Magnificent Mile shopping was amazing, but the icing on the cake? Dinner. And I’m not talking pizza and Garrett’s popcorn!  Read More…

ken’s quarter-life krisis: adult-ish

cb-kenadult

Another Wednesday is here! Here to drag my impending 27th birthday even closer. As I rack my brain trying to decide just what it is that someone who is “adult – ish” does to celebrate, a past conversation with Myleik comes to mind… Read More…

KEN’S QUARTER-LIFE KRISIS: MOVING DAY

moving

At our final walk through, a little over a week before we were scheduled to move, my sister and I began discussing the related logistics. We both assumed my father, boyfriend and male friends would help us – per usual. No need to call truck companies or get UHaul quotes.

Well, I’m sure you can imagine our surprise when mere days before moving it became clear that no one would be available. My father even had the audacity to be out of town on business.  Read More…

ken’s quarter-life krisis: the gala

cb-gala

Last Friday, the curlBOX family got all dolled up for a night out at the annual SafeHouse Urban Gala, hosted at the Georgia Aquarium.

While the evening was a wonderful opportunity to test drive Rent the Runway (https://www.renttherunway.com/rtr_home) and wear fabulous gowns we cannot currently afford to purchase, while perusing the aquarium after hours, cocktails in hand, we learned a little, too.  Read More…

KEN’S QUARTER-LIFE KRISIS: AM I STILL IN MY CRISIS?

cb-kenscrisis

My sister and I are moving into a new condo in about a week, forcing me into spring cleaning a little sooner than I’d prefer.

Just as I am taking the time to purge my closet, scrub my floors and box up my life, it occurs to me that perhaps I should designate some time to take stock of my life and my present journey through the muck of the quarter – life KRISIS.  Read More…

KEN’S QUARTER-LIFE KRISIS: PINCH ME & I’LL PUNCH YOU

ken3

It’s really easy to get sucked into the depths of this quarter life crisis thing.

The reality of the situation is that while we’re busy worrying about having the success that comes later in life we are missing out on living the life we are supposed to be living right now at 21, 25 or…27. (My birthday is fast approaching and soon I will be banished into my late twenties!)  Read More…
